The Foundation Leadership Unit is ideal for those who are new to a Head of Department position or preparing to take on greater leadership responsibilities. Designed to address the everyday challenges faced by onboard leaders, this course develops the essential skills required to effectively manage people, motivate teams and communicate with confidence. Participants gain a deeper understanding of leadership principles, resource management and conflict resolution, equipping them to create a positive, productive and professional working environment onboard.

The Advanced Leadership Unit takes leadership development to the next level, enabling experienced Heads of Department and senior crew to maximise their impact within the vessel's operational structure. Building on the knowledge gained through the Foundation Unit, this programme explores the qualities and behaviours that distinguish exceptional leaders. Participants develop greater self-awareness, emotional intelligence and empathy, while strengthening their ability to influence, motivate and support individuals and teams.
